Assignment 6: Light Control

Gabrielle Galley- Assignment 6 Light Control

Cast Shadow
Strength: The casted shadows coming from the lipstick are very crips.
Problem: The last pink lipstick is a bit off center and leaning toward the inside. Solution: Make sure all items in shoot are in frame.
Problem: There is a weird glair on the red lipstick. Solution: Adjust my light source.
Problem: I think that if all of the lipsticks were in focus it would be better for a product shot. Solution: Change my f-stop, or use a different lens.
Strength: I think the use of my ring light helps make the cast shadows strong.

Little to no Shadow

Strength: There is no shadows on the subject face.
Problem: There seems to be something in the subjects teeth which I did not notice at first. Solution: Actually check when i am shooting to make sure everything is clean and crisp.
Problem: I think that the photo is a bit dark. Solution: I think I could have shot somewhere else, but I could a have risen my iso a bit more.
Problem: Although the frame is a completely full, it seems like its just very tight. Solution: I should have scooted away from the subject a bit.
Strength: I think the contrast of him being in front of a window against his dark jacket is very nice.

Strong Shadow
Strength: There are very crisp deep shadows in this photo
Problem: Im not a huge fan of the little flowers to the left of the white rose. Solution: completely remove them from the flowers.
Problem: Although the shadows are very strong I think that I could have added a bit more light.
Problem: The random red/orange flower in the upper left hand corner looks really random. Solution: Remove it.
Strength: The white rose is very very crisp and stands out well with the dark background.

Soft Shadow
Strength: The entire subject is in focus
Problem: The background wall is a bit dirty. Solution: Clean it.
Problem: The subject is not completely in center. Solution: I need to scoot my model a bit to the right.
Problem: Im annoyed by the sweater strings being uneven. Solution: Make them an even length.
Strength: The shadows are actually rather soft, shooting next to the window helped a lot.'

Background Light
Strength: The background light it not super harsh due to my depth of field.
Problem: the front glasses are a bit dirty. Solution: make sure my products are actually clean.
Problem: I think the back glasses are fading away. Solution: I could have put more lights behind them to make them pop better.
Problem: The background of the tapestry could be considered busy. Solution: Shoot against a different background.
Solution: I think that this shot turned out very well, and the front glasses are nice and crisp.
